It's pretty explicit going back at least as far Hammurabi; Plato skirts around it; Jesus is deeply concerned with it; and it's of great concern in more modern variations like "Does freedom / an open society / democracy [etc] lose out or have an advantage over more command-and-control systems?" Joe's talk is a AGI-oriented discussion, which is an interesting and important lens It's an interesting criterion for a healthy society, IMO: it's one in which goodness can not only compete, it will usually triumph.
